The General Union of Workers have confirmed a plan for strike activity in a number of Spanish airports, which will run until the end of 2025.

Azul Handling (part of Ryanair Holdings Plc Group) operates in 27 airports and manages over 500 flights daily. The strikes are expected at 12 Spanish airports, namely Alicante, Barcelona, Seville, Madrid, Malaga, Ibiza, Palma, Girona, Tenerife South, Lanzarote, Santiago de Compostela and Valencia.

Ryanair passengers should expect ongoing delays and the possibility of cancellations, as 3,000 Azul Handling employees walk out over working hours, conditions and job stability. The protest is also against the use of excessive disciplinary tactics and disproportionate bonuses which have been awarded to Azul Handling bosses.

Walk outs will commence on 15, 16 and 17 August 2025, then continue each Wednesday, Friday and on weekends for the rest of the year. The action will affect passenger ramp transfer and baggage handling. Passengers travelling via Malta Air, Buzz, Lauda airlines will also likely be affected as these airlines sit under the Ryanair Group umbrella.

The General Union of Workers have announced that a minimum service will be maintained. Strikes are set for specific periods during the day (05:00-09:00, 12:00-15:00, and 21:00-23:59).
